SCZONE signs a contract with the Chinese “Henneway” With investments of $50 million within Qantara West Industrial Zone

The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) signed a contract for a new project for the production and manufacture of travel luggage in the Qantara West Industrial Zone with the Chinese company “Henneway Travel Products”, which is one of the largest travel luggage manufacturing companies, and among its main clients are the major brands in this field including Samsonite, Delsey, Swiss Gear, Travelite, on a total area of 120,000 square meters, with a total investment of up to $50 million, as the project aims to provide 2,000 job opportunities. The actual operation of the project will begin in the first quarter of 2025. The contract was signed by Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, chairman of SCZONE, and Mr. Wu Hai Long, President of Henneway Company.

“This project joins the series of partnership successes between SCZONE and the Chinese investments. El-Qantara West Industrial Zone, in which the project is being held, includes in its first phase 11 projects, in several fields, including textiles and fabrics. , spinning and weaving, ready-made garments, medical devices, and sportswear, in addition to a travel luggage project with a total area of 1.44 million square meters, with investments amounting to $1.07 billion, to provide 20 thousand job opportunities, as it is a promising industrial Zone which can receive more investments, and Gain  investors’ confidence in a short period.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, chairman of SCZONE declared.

The company will work to develop more aspects regarding the factory’s activities. We also will share our experience and invite more Chinese companies to cooperate with SCZONE because of its good investment climate.” Mr. Wu Hai Long President of Henneway Company said.

It is worth noting that this project comes as a ramification of the promotional efforts exerted for the Qantara West Industrial Zone during the period from 1st of July to December 2023, which resulted in the signing of 3 contracts so far, in addition to the approval procedures which are being completed for the remaining projects.
