SCZone signed a contract with a Global Consortium (TOYOTA TSUSHO /BOLLORE /NYK) to establish RO-RO Terminal in East Port Said
150 million dollars investments in the terminal with 1400 job opportunities
“After the initiation of the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the new quay expansions for East Port Said port ,and also the opening of Port Said Tunnels below the Suez Canal end of November 2019, the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) has signed a contract today 19th December 2019 with a consortium composed of three international and major players: Bolloré Africa Logistics (first private port operator in Africa), Nippon Yusen Kaisha (worldwide leader in shipping and logistics provider) and Toyota Tsusho Corporation (major trading player in Africa, present in Egypt since 1933) to establish a RO-RO Terminal in East Port Said.
“The three shareholders of the concession strongly believe in Suez Canal Economic Zone future and are willing to commit to the development and the operation of a 600 m quay and 21.2 ha (212,000 m2) new terminal dedicated to vehicles in East Port Said.”
Yehia Zaki Chairman of SCZone announced.
“This new terminal will provide the automotive industry with a state-of the-art services and efficient operation processes for import, export and transshipment of vehicles.” He said
Zaki announced also in a press release that the concessionaire will invest around 150 MUSD in equipment and infrastructure to handle close to 800 000 vehicles.
The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone)will receive annual payments from the concessionaire which shall amount to around 233 MUSD in total with a direct employment power of around 400 persons in addition to around 1000 workers as an indirect employment.
The signing ceremony took place at SCZone Cairo in the presence of Engineer Yehia Zaky, SCZone Chairman, Mr. Olivier De Noray Managing Director of Bolloré Africa Logistics, Mr. Hiroki Namikawa General Manager of Toyota Tsusho Corporation and Mr.Tomoo Moriya Deputy General Manager of Nippon Yusen Kaisha attended by the presence of Rear Admiral Mohamed Abd El Aziz Braia, the Vice Chairman of SCZone for the Northern Region.
