SCZONE receives a high-level Bahraini delegation to learn about investment opportunities

Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), received at SCZONE’s HQ in the New Administrative Capital, a high-level delegation from the Kingdom of Bahrain, headed by H.E. Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy of Bahrain, in the presence of Mr. Hamad bin Faisal Al-Malki, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Mr. Abdullah bin Adel, Minister of Industry and Trade, Ms. Noor bint Ali Al-Khalif, Minister of Sustainable Development, Ms. Fawzia bint Abdullah, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Cairo. And a number of officials from both sides.

The visit comes within the framework of the delegation’s presence in Cairo as part of the first meeting of the Egyptian-Bahraini governmental committee for trade, economic, scientific, and technological cooperation, and to identify the investment opportunities available in SCZONE.

“This visit reflects the depth of relations between Egypt and Bahrain, as SCZONE seeks to cooperate with Bahrain in the targeted industrial sectors. It is important to mention that there is a growing demand for these sectors in Egypt and Africa. One of the most prominent areas of cooperation is the plans to localize automotive industries. SCZONE has made great efforts in localizing the green fuel industries and the complementary and feeding industries. SCZONE also moved to use its affiliated ports in the ship-bunkering with green fuel, achieving great success in this file by exporting the world’s first shipment of ammonia from renewable energy to the Indian Unilever Group produced by the Egypt Green Hydrogen Project in the Sokhna Industrial Zone. In this context, East Port Said Port witnessed the first green fuel supply operation for the Laura Maersk in August 2023, demonstrating the confidence of major global consortia in the readiness of SCZONE as a regional hub for green fuels.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien stated

“We would like to get to know in depth about SCZONE. We appreciate the achievements in infrastructure projects that have opened promising opportunities for investment along the Suez Canal banks, which serve as a lifeline for global trade. The development at Sokhna Port also represents a qualitative leap that contributes to strengthening SCZONE’s position globally. There are great opportunities for cooperation between SCZONE and Bahraini companies, especially in the field of logistics, which is one of the priority sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain.” Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa explained
