Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), received a delegation from the Chinese National Textile and Apparel Council “CNTAC”, which includes Chinese institutions and economic entities concerned with the textile industry. The delegation was attended, headed by Mr. Lin Yunfeng, chairman of China Knitting Industrial Association, and representatives of the Sub-council of Textile Industry CCPIT, Shantou Textile and Garment Industry Association, Guangdong Kaidi Garment Company, Jiangsu Lianfa Textile Company, Ningbo Chisage U and K International Trading Company, Suzhou Zhongzhou Great Trade Import and Export Company, and Liaoning Company Liaoning Shidai‐Wanheng Sincerence Garment Company, Wilkie Technical Textiles (Jiaxing), Jiangyin Hongjia Printing‐dyeing Company, Fujian For Both Textile Company, Ever Lucky Garment Accessories Company, Dongguan Youmei Textile Technology Company, Xiamen Kingland Company, Best Garment Group Company, and CoBest Enterprise Development Company (Shanghai).

“The textile industry is one of the important industries that SCZONE has succeeded in attracting during 2023, especially during the promotional tours carried out by SCZONE in China in May and October 2023. The Qantara West Industrial Zone also had the largest share in attracting investments in the textile industry, as it is a promising industrial area that was able, in one year, to attract 13 companies, including 7 contracts that had already been concluded, most of which were from Chinese companies. Qantara West Industrial Zone is located in the Ismailia Governorate, and this location makes it in the middle of SCZONE ports, and thus investors can access foreign markets through the ports of East Port Said and West Port Said in the north, or the port of Sokhna in the south. It is also distinguished by the availability of skilled, trained manpower in addition to the availability of raw materials and the infrastructure necessary for the textile industries.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE declared.

“SCZONE supports its investors and gives them access to 100 million consumers in the local Egyptian market, in addition to access to various regional and global markets through free trade agreements. SCZONE also supports the green transformation in manufacturing processes, especially the textile industry.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien added.

“We are glad for this warm reception of the delegation at SCZONE. I visited SCZONE with a Chinese economic delegation in 2018, so I can be certain that SCZONE has witnessed remarkable development during these years, and has become one of the the most important integrated economic zones in the world. This development is also evident through the development of infrastructure and facilities, and ensuring the presence of industrial sectors that contain complementary and feeding industries. This remarkable development was completed through SCZONE’s interest in sustainable development and green hydrogen. The delegation includes the most prominent companies operating in the field of textile industry that have a desire to invest within SCZONE, as this visit is an opportunity to closely study all the details related to establishing textile projects, as we aspire for more cooperation in the coming period.” Mr. Lin Yunfeng stated.

After the end of the meeting, the delegation went on an inspection tour of the Chinese industrial developer zone “TEDA – Egypt”, which is an example of the success of cooperation between the economy of the Suez Canal and Chinese investments.
