SCZONE received the Second Minister of Education and Foreign Affairs of Singapore to discuss ways of cooperation

Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, the Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), received Dr. Mohammed Al-Maliki, the Second Minister of Education and Foreign Affairs of Singapore, to discuss ways of bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, especially the ports sector and the targeted industrial sectors under SCZONE strategic vision.

During his presentation, Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien explained: “Through its privileged location, ports, and industrial zones, SCZONE has been able to achieve success in developing the services provided at the ports. We added the services of ship-bunkering with fossil and green fuel in the ports of East and West Port Said and Sokhna. SCZONE has also succeeded in attracting major investments for the developed berths in its affiliated ports. In this regard, SCZONE seeks to benefit from Singapore’s expertise to cooperate in the ports, maritime services, and logistics sectors. SCZONE is also keen to attract Singaporean investments in the industrial sectors targeted for localization within SCZONE, especially the green energy sectors and related industries, textile industries, etc. We intend to launch a new roadshow for Singapore during the first half of 2024 to showcase the investment opportunities that can be exploited within SCZONE the Singaporean business community.”

For his part, Dr. Mohammed Al-Maliki stated: “We aspire to open new horizons for cooperation with SCZONE in areas of common interest such as ports and the digitization of services, the pharmaceutical industry, and the textile industry. Together, we will also work to attract more industries in these areas and attract Singaporean investment. We are very impressed by the volume of work SCZONE witnesses in various important fields, especially the field of green energy, which is of great interest, as SCZONE is characterized by the availability of labor near industrial zones, as well as renewable energy sources.”
