SCZONE participates in the Egyptian economic delegation in Brussels

Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), participates within the high-level Egyptian economic delegation in the Belgian capital, Brussels, which includes public and private sector officials to promote investment in Egypt, to review the ongoing economic reform process, and to prepare for the investment conference scheduled to be held in Egypt with the cooperation of the European Union during the coming months. Ambassador Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty, Egyptian Ambassador to Brussels, Luxembourg and the European Union institutions, received the delegation, and the Egyptian Embassy and its commercial office in Brussels organized a Several meetings for the delegation, including meetings with the European Business Federations Foundation ”Business Europe”, the Arab-Belgium-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (ABLCC), and the Solar Power Europe Federation, in the presence of Mr. Hossam Heiba, Chairman of the General Authority for Investments and free zones(GAFI), Dr. Jihan Saleh, Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister, and several representatives of the Egyptian private sector.

” SCZONE capabilities including 4 industrial zones and 6 seaports on the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, represent promising opportunities for economic cooperation and also represent Egypt’s vision to maximize SCZONE benefits by equipping it with a world-class infrastructure, in addition to the integration strategy between ports, industrial and logistics areas, which provided a supportive model for the supply chains and the trade and industry. This readiness contributed to SCZONE being a center for green fuel industries.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE declared.

” The strategic location and readiness of seaports enabled SCZONE to provide ships bunkering services with fossil fuels and green fuels, as SCZONE achieved leadership through the success of the first green bunkering operation in the eastern Mediterranean and Africa at the port of East Port Said for the ship Laura Maersk in August 2023, which ranked as the 10th among the world’s ports in the field of transshipment, in addition to the fact that the first green ammonia shipment in the world was exported from the “Egypt For Green Hydrogen” Factory in November 2023.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE added.

During the meetings, Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien reviewed the targeted industrial sectors and he stressed that this diversity in the available opportunities through ports, industrial zones, and the green fuel, demonstrates the readiness to build more partnerships with the European side.

It is worth noting that Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien received the delegation of the European Commission mission earlier this month to discuss the prospects for cooperation, especially regarding projects established and planned to be established within SCZONE in various sectors. He also met Ambassador Mr. François Cornet d’Elzius, the Belgian ambassador to Cairo at SCZONE’s headquarters in the administrative Capital before this visit, who stressed the need to support cooperation between SCZONE ports and the Belgian port of Antwerp, and pointed out that SCZONE enjoys a promising future.
