Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), today signed the contract for a new project by Kinlead Innovative Materials, a Chinese company specializing in flexible packaging solutions and raw materials. The project will be established in 2 phases in the El-Qantara West Industrial Zone on a land plot of 171,000 square meters, with total investments of USD 60 million (EGP 3 billion). It will be fully self-financed and is expected to provide approximately 600 direct job opportunities.
The project aims to manufacture biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films, metalized BOPP rolls, stretch films, self-adhesive BOPP cello tapes, and paper tubes, with an annual production capacity exceeding 100 million tons, 165,000 pieces, and 60,000 rolls. The entire production will be allocated for 100% export, making it the 18th project in Qantara West Industrial Zone. The contract was signed by Mr. Lifeng Chen, Chairman of Zhejiang Kinlead Innovative Materials Co. Ltd., in the presence of SCZONE officials and representatives from the Chinese company.
“Although Qantara West Industrial Zone has become a fully integrated and specialized hub for the textile industry, it has also successfully attracted quality investments in various industrial sectors. The “Kinlead” project stands as a prominent example of such investments, which enhance the industrial diversity and support SCZONE’s goal of industrial integration and boosting export rates. With the signing of this contract, the total number of contracted projects in El-Qantara West Industrial Zone now stands at 18 projects, with total investments of USD 564.5 million, providing nearly 25,300 direct job opportunities.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, chairman of SCZONE, declared.
“Attracting investments of this scale from major Chinese companies, fully self-funded, reflects growing international investor confidence in SCZONE’s investment climate. SCZONE offers advanced infrastructure, competitive incentives, and a unique geographic location that makes it a strategic gateway to regional and international markets. This is particularly evident in El-Qantara West’s advantageous location between SCZONE’s ports on the Mediterranean Sea and Red Sea, which facilitates easy access to global markets. The high export rates from projects in Qantara West Industrial Zone further highlight its contribution to improving Egypt’s trade balance and increasing foreign currency inflows.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, chairman of SCZONE, added.
It is worth noting that Kinlead Innovative Materials Co., established in 2002, is a globally leading manufacturer of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films, cast polypropylene (CPP) films, and metalized films. The company operates several major production bases in China and exports its products to more than 80 countries across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
