With investments of €14 million, equivalent to EGP 310 million SCZONE Chairman Witnesses Groundbreaking of Treegas Composite LPG Cylinder Project in Sokhna

Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Treegas project, a station for the filling and manufacturing of composite liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders made from fiberglass, located within the Sokhna Industrial Zone under the umbrella of the industrial developer (Egyptian-Chinese Joint Venture/Main Development Company). The project spans an area of 10.4 thousand square meters, with a total investment cost of €14 million, equivalent to EGP 310 million, and will be implemented over two phases.

The first phase aims to establish a factory for the manufacturing and filling composite LPG cylinders, with an annual production capacity of up to 500,000 cylinders, utilizing advanced technology following international standards. It also involves the transfer and localization of the technology, the establishment of the necessary infrastructure, and the creation of 250 direct job opportunities.

The second phase targets setting up assembly lines for gas regulators and pressure valves for the composite cylinders produced in the first phase, with an additional investment cost of €7 million, aiming to localize the technology for manufacturing these components. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in the presence of Mr. Ivan Jukl, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Cairo, Dr. Amani Eid, CEO of “Ebda” Company, and several senior executives from SCZONE.

“I am delighted to witness the launch of this ambitious project, implemented by the Egyptian company ‘Treegas’ in collaboration with the Czech company HPC, the project’s technological partner. This project represents an outstanding industrial partnership based on exchanging expertise, transferring advanced technologies, and maximizing the benefits among all participating parties. It lays the foundation for an industrial vision focused on deepening local manufacturing, leveraging advanced technologies, and meeting global market demands, thereby contributing to supporting the national economy and enhancing its regional and international competitiveness.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, chairman of SCZONE declared.

“The philosophy of SCZONE is based on providing an attractive investment environment, not limited to offering land or infrastructure, but also building an integrated system that provides world-class services, facilitates procedures, offers competitive incentives, and ensures logistical connectivity between projects and global markets.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, chairman of SCZONE added.

“I am delighted with this collaboration and affirm that there are further opportunities for cooperation between Czech investments and the SCZONE. I highly appreciate the efforts made by SCZONE to encourage its investors to export and reach various markets. I am particularly impressed that the “Treegas” project aspires to become a regional player in the field of manufacturing composite LPG cylinders.” Mr. Ivan Jukl, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Cairo, stated.

“Many joint efforts have been made to bring this project to life and make it a reality on the ground. I extend my gratitude to the Chairman of SCZONE and the entire team for their continuous support. SCZONE was indeed the best choice for our project after extensive research, given its strategic location and the integration between industrial zones and ports, which facilitates the export of our products.” Dr. Abdel Fattah Haggag said.

It is worth noting that this project represents a partnership between the Egyptian company Treegas and the Czech company HPC Research, with the participation of several local companies, including Ebda, PetroGas, and Butagasco, in addition to contributions from private sector investors. The project aims to transfer and localize the manufacturing technology for composite cylinders in Egypt, including the design and production of equipment and manufacturing execution systems (MES), in compliance with international quality standards (ISO 11119-3).
