Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), signed today a contract with the Chinese company “HIGHTEX Co., Ltd. Hangzhou”, specialized in manufacturing decorative fabrics and upholstery. The project will be established within Qantara West Industrial Zone, on a land plot of 65,000 square meters, adjacent to several existing projects in the same field. The total investment for the project amounts to USD 17 million (equivalent to EGP 851.7 million), fully self-financed, and is expected to provide around 300 direct job opportunities. The factory will produce more than 20 million meters of decorative fabrics annually, with 100% of its production allocated for export. The contract was signed by Mr. Wenlong Lu, Chairman of the company, in the presence of SCZONE officials and representatives of the Chinese company.
“Qantara West Industrial Zone is a success story we are proud of, having quickly earned the confidence of international investors in the textiles and fabrics sector. This aligns with SCZONE’s vision to support productive industries and promote export-oriented industrial integration. Integrating projects in Qantara West (ranging from spinning and weaving to ready-made garments and decorative fabric manufacturing) creates a complete value chain that enhances market accessibility and reinforces Egypt’s regional leadership in a sector where it holds deep-rooted expertise and a longstanding industrial legacy.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE, stated.
“Following the signing of this contract, the total number of contracted projects in Qantara West Industrial Zone has risen to 20 projects, with total investments reaching USD 596.5 million, generating over 27,600 direct job opportunities. The Qantara West’s strategic location between SCZONE’s ports on the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, along with its proximity to densely populated areas and a skilled labor force, provides it with a strong competitive edge in attracting labor-intensive industries and boosting its contribution to the national economy and foreign currency inflows.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE, added.
It is worth noting that HIGHTEX Co., Ltd. was established in Hangzhou, China in 1990, and has grown to become one of the leading suppliers of decorative fabrics in both domestic and international markets. The company specializes in fabric design and production, furniture manufacturing, and services for the hospitality sector. It also operates research and sales centers in the United States, as well as two furniture factories in Vietnam and China, reflecting the global reach and strength of the group.
