Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, witnessed the official opening ceremony of “Saraya Middle East Factory” in the industrial developer Orascom Industrial Parks within the “Sokhna industrial zone”, in the presence of Mr. Oka Hiroshi, Ambassador of Japan in Cairo, Mr. Yusuke Saraya, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saraya Company,
and several SCZONE leaders.
Saraya Middle East” factory is one of the most important Japanese investments in Egypt, It owns 4 production lines for the manufacture of sterilization products and supplies, natural cosmetics, natural calorie-free sugar packaging “Lacanto”, and extraction of jojoba oil, which is exported to cosmetics factories in the European and Asian continents, and the factory is located in its two phases on an area of 20 thousand square meters, with investments of approximately $12 million.
On the sidelines of the opening ceremony, Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien stated that the SCZONE has many aspects of cooperation with the Japanese side, which includes the roll-in dock in East Port Said with the Japanese-French consortium “Toyota Tsusho BollorĂ© NYK”, expressing his happiness with the opening of the four production lines of Saraya factory in the Sokhna integrated zone, which witnesses the presence of a large number of investments in the targeted sectors for localization, which includes many countries of the world, including Japan,
He pointed to the successful promotional tour that the sczone’s delegation made to the Japanese capital Tokyo last year to attract investments within the sczone, during which they met with more than 100 Japanese companies in various sectors that expressed their desire to inject investments in the sczone in the coming period.
The Japanese ambassador expressed his happiness to attend the opening of one of the Japanese factories in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, stressing the importance of the partnership between Egypt and Japan, pointing to his country’s support and develop this partnership with Egypt in various fields, stressing cooperation with the Suez Canal Economic Zone through the Japanese JICA Organization to enhance the presence of Japanese investments within the sczone as it represents an important strategic center, a global destination for investment, and a gateway to Africa.
Mr. Yusuke Saraya explained that the Japanese company Saraya has started its investments in Egypt since 2018 by providing services based on Japanese technology in the fields of sterilization, public health and cosmetology.
Stressing that the establishment of the company’s first factory complex in Egypt in the Suez Canal Economic Zone will serve as an export base for the company’s products to the Middle East and Africa countries with four production lines on an area of 8,000 square meters as a first stage,
pointing out that the company, in coordination with the industrial developer and the economic zone, is working together to implement the second phase with two additional production lines for sterile latex gloves, liquid chocolate products and diet chocolate on an area of 12 thousand square meters, noting that Saraya is present in approximately from 50 countries around the world, and is seeking to expand in Egypt.
