With a total investment of $65.5 million…SCZONE Chairman signs 3 new industrial contracts with Chinese companies in the garments and textiles sector in Hangzhou, China

Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), signed today in the Chinese city of Hangzhou three new contracts for industrial projects in the garments and textiles sector. Two of the contracts are with the Chinese group Shandong SUNSHELL Garment Group Ltd., and the third is with Zhejiang Charming for Dyeing & Finishing Co., Ltd. The projects will be established within the Qantara West Industrial Zone, with a total investment of $65.5 million (approximately equivalent to EGP 3.2 billion), fully self-financed by the companies. These projects are expected to create around 6,000 direct job opportunities, with 90% of the production targeted for export to international markets. This signing takes place as part of SCZONE’s roadshow across several Chinese provinces, aiming to strengthen international cooperation and attract more foreign direct investment.

Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien signed the first contract to establish a factory for high-quality ready-made garments on a 23,000 square meter plot with Shandong SUNSHELL Garment Group Ltd., one of the leading companies in spinning, textiles, and garment manufacturing. The project involves an investment of $7 million and will provide approximately 2,000 direct job opportunities. It is set to produce more than 11 million garment pieces annually, of which 90% will be exported, and 10% supplied to the local market.

As part of the same partnership, Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien signed a second contract with Shandong SUNSHELL for the establishment of an advanced textile industrial complex within the designated spinning and weaving section of Qantara West Industrial Zone. The project spans 100,000 square meters, with an investment of $30 million, and will create 1,000 direct job opportunities. The annual production capacity exceeds 2 million tons of textiles, with 90% designated for export and 10% for the local market. The two contracts were signed by Ms. Yong Zhou, Chairwoman of Shandong SUNSHELL Garment Group.

Additionally, Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien signed a contract for an integrated fabric production project with Zhejiang Charming for Dyeing & Finishing Co., Ltd., a high-tech Chinese company specializing in the production of knitted fabrics from blended fibers. The company operates across the full value chain, from design, R&D, and knitting to printing, dyeing, and final garment production. The project will be located on a 100,000 square meter plot in Qantara West, with an investment cost of $28.5 million, and will provide approximately 3,000 direct job opportunities. The factory will feature an integrated production line starting with circular knitting to finished garments, using advanced technologies including intelligent cutting systems. The annual production capacity is expected to reach 12,000 tons of fabric, including fabrics for children’s wear, sports and casual wear, home textiles, and premium fabrics. 90% of the output will be exported to European and American markets. The contract was signed by Mr. Mo Bingrong, Chairman and Owner of the company.

“The signing of these three contracts reflects the growing confidence of Chinese companies in the investment environment within SCZONE, particularly as SCZONE continues to enhance the industrial value chain in the textile sector in Qantara West Industrial Zone, one of the key pillars in building an integrated and competitive export-oriented industry.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the SCZONE, declared.

“With the addition of these three projects, the number of signed projects within Qantara West Industrial Zone has reached 31, with total investments amounting to $799.6 million, covering a total area of 2,017,400 square meters, and providing approximately 44,455 direct job opportunities. This underscores SCZONE’s position as a promising regional hub for the garments and textile industry and contributes to Egypt’s national objectives in manufacturing, exports, and job creation.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the SCZONE, added. It is worth noting that Shandong SUNSHELL Group, established in 1956, is one of the world’s leading companies in garment and textile manufacturing, offering fully integrated industrial solutions including spinning, knitting, dyeing, printing, sewing, and embroidery, along with advanced logistics services. The group also specializes in advanced fabric finishing technologies such as antimicrobial treatments.
