The Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs meets SCZone Chairman to discuss investment opportunities in the zone

Hisham El-Din Hussein, the Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Eng. Yehia Zaki, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone,(SCZone) today morning, to discuss investment opportunities for the Malaysian side in the economic zone, during his first visit to Egypt since he took up his position last March.

The meeting tackled mutual cooperation to attract Malaysian investments in the industrial zones and the affiliated ports, taking into consideration the targeted industrial sectors included in the zone strategy during 2020/2025.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Malaysian Foreign Minister expressed his admiration for the National projects that are being held in Egypt, expressing his happiness for meeting President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi. As he discussed many important issues and files, especially the investment in Suez Canal Economic Zone, which he pays full attention and support for attracting various investments in the zone, due to the importance of its geographical location and the investment incentives it enjoys.

By his side, Eng. Yehia Zaki expressed his happiness with this meeting, which strengthens relations between the two sides, in addition the visit is a good opportunity to explore new axis of investment within the economic zone, especially in the affiliated ports, which are highly important for their distinguished location on the Red and Mediterranean Seas, passing through the Suez Canal.

During the meeting, The Chairman of the Economic Zone presented the most important points of the strategy on which the zone is based and the targeted industrial sectors, some of which began to be settled in the industrial zones, as well as the most important procedures, rules and laws issued during the last period that contribute to attract more investments and facilitating the business climate for investors.

At the end of the meeting, The Malaysian Foreign Minister Hisham El-Din Hussein referred to the importance of cooperation with Suez Canal Economic Zone and working to attract Malaysian investments there, expressing his country’s desire to pump investments into Egypt, as it is the gateway to Africa, unlike cooperation between Egypt and the ASEAN Group.
