SCZONE’s chairman Witnesses the ground-breaking ceremony of the “Chemtics Egypt Chemicals ” project with total investments of $30 Million

Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), witnessed the ground-breaking ceremony of the “Chemtics Egypt Chemicals” project, within the scope of the Chinese industrial developer (Teda – Egypt), in Sokhna integrated industrial zone. The project will be established on an area of 60 thousand square meters, with total investments amounting to $30 million, to produce more than 40,000 tons of calcium hypochlorite annually. The project will be implemented in two phases, as the first phase ends and enters production on May 1, 2025. The ceremony was held in the presence of Mr. Cao Hui, Managing Director of (TEDA-Egypt) Special Economic Zone Development, Mr. Xu Qifeng, Managing Director of (TEDA-Egypt) Investment Company, Mr. Zhang Zongchao, CEO of Chemtics, and several SCZONE’s officials.

“The ground-breaking of the Chemtics project is a new achievement to be added to the success story record of SCZONE and Chinese investments, which has become a prosperous model in international economic cooperation, as this partnership has achieved to date the presence of more than 160 companies with total investments reaching $2 billion, and provided about 50 thousand job opportunities.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE declared during his speech.

“The recent promotional tour in China included signing contracts for 6 new projects with total investments exceeding $1.067 billion on a total area of 1.2 million square meters, targeting deepening cooperation in the field of energy production, glass manufacturing, bromine, chlor-alkali, and other projects that complement the Chemtics project and represent a shift in the manufacture of fine chemical products. These efforts align with Egypt’s strategy to localize several targeted industrial sectors. SCZONE aims for the “Chemtics Egypt Chemicals” project to be the largest base for producing calcium hypochlorite in Egypt and Africa.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE added.

It is worth mentioning that Chemtics Group specializes in the production of chlorine-containing disinfectants and related fine chemicals. The company relies on technical support from the Nankai University of China and has 3 production bases in Dezhou, Binzhou, Tai’an, and others, and 3 production bases outside China, with a total output exceeding 120,000 tons, making it the largest producer of calcium hypochlorite in the world, exporting its products to Russia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South and East Asia, and South America.
