Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), received Mr. Salih Mutlu Ĺžen, the Turkish Ambassador to Cairo. The meeting was to discuss common interests and enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the economic aspect.
“SCZONE offers competitive advantages to its investors through 6 seaports on the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, and 4 industrial zones that include 21 various targeted sectors. SCZONE witnesses the presence of many Turkish investments, such as the Hayat Egypt factory specializing in health products in the Sokhna integrated zone. We also have the presence of major Turkish textile and clothing companies in the promising Qantara West industrial zone, most notably Jade Textile, KCG, and others, which confirms SCZONE’s keenness to Support its investors according to our commitment to SCZONE’s strategic vision aimed at localizing the targeted sectors.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE declared.
“I appreciate SCZONE’s potential in cooperating with the Turkish business community. We are also grateful for the role played by Al-Arish port in delivering aid to Turkey during the devastating earthquake disaster last year. The Turkish companies aim to strengthen the partnership with SCZONE, especially in the ready-made garments and textile industries, as Egypt has become one of the most important investment destinations in this field. Hence, there is a necessity of cooperation to launch a Ro-Ro line at one of SCZONE’s ports, which contributes to enhancing trade exchange between the two countries.” Mr. Salih Mutlu Şen said.
The meeting also touched on cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, whether green fuel or the industries that feed it, such as solar panels, as well as the activity of green bunkering with green fuel, in addition to the proposal to establish a vocational training center in the Qantara West industrial zone to serve the under-construction projects that require intensive trained labor on the latest technological systems in production.
