SCZONE receives a delegation from the Kenya Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZA)

Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), received a delegation from the Kenya Special Economic Zone (SEZA), as part of the delegation’s tour inside Egypt to develop guidelines for evaluating special economic zones and the operating manual for the economic zones program in Kenya. The visit aims to benefit from SCZONE’s experience with the entry of goods from SCZONE into the local market, in addition to exploring the system of taxes, customs, and exemptions. This is under the auspices of the Japan International Cooperation Agency “Jica” as part of its program to support economic zones in East African countries to help them develop their working strategies.

During the visit, the members of the delegation expressed their happiness at being within SCZONE, to benefit from its distinctive experience in attracting foreign investments in industrial zones and ports, its experience as a model to be emulated on the African continent, the integration model between industrial zones and ports SCZONE adopts, and the procedures and controls for the entry of SCZONE’s products into the local market, and the legal frameworks for that. The delegation members also expressed their aspiration for field visits to enrich their experience about SCZONE on the ground and learn closely about its working mechanisms.

” SCZONE seeks to cooperate and share our experience with various regional economic zones to support and develop the African continent, especially since it is a promising market that attracts multiple sectors and services. SCZONE offers a diversity of incentives through direct and indirect financial incentives and special exemptions which enhance its competitiveness, and attract more foreign direct investments in its targeted industrial sectors, as SCZONE has become a model for international economic cooperation and gained the confidence of many international investments that have chosen it as a hub for their expansion in various markets due to its distinctive strategic location and trained technical labor with a competitive cost.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE declared. 100 Japanese companies in various sectors that expressed their desire to inject investments in the sczone in the coming period.

“Egypt had a clear vision in maximizing the potential of SCZONE, which is represented by 4 industrial zones and 6 seaports on the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, by equipping them with a world-class infrastructure, in addition to the integration between ports, industrial zones, and logistical areas, which provided a model for supporting supply chains and the international movement of trade and industry, and thus this readiness contributed to SCZONE being a center for green fuel industries, in addition to the strategic location and readiness of seaports that enabled it to provide ships’ bunkering services with fossil fuels and green fuels.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien added.

Following the delegation’s meeting with the Chairman of SCZONE, the delegation went on a field visit that visits to the industrial developer (TEDA – Egypt) and the industrial developer (Orascom Industrial Parks), in addition to meeting with the various SCZONE’s general managers of departments of investor services, taxes, and customs, projects, and the environment. It is worth noting that the delegation will conclude its tour by visiting the East Port-Said Industrial Zone and the East Port-Said Port to learn more about SCZONE’s experiences.
