SCZONE received a high-level economic delegation from Hong Kong to discuss aspects of cooperation

Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), received a high-level economic delegation from Hong Kong, at SCZONE headquarters in the Administrative Capital, headed by Mr. Nick Chan, Hong Kong Deputy to the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China and Director of AALCO Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Centre, and Mr. Herman TSE, Deputy Head of the Delegation, and Head of Business and Professional Services at the Hong Kong Investment Agency “Invest HK”. The delegation included representatives of many governmental, economic, and legal institutions in Hong Kong, to discuss aspects of cooperation in areas of common interest.

“SCZONE has many commonalities with Hong Kong regarding the economic vision based on interest in infrastructure, the integration between industrial, maritime, and logistical activities, and some financial incentinves. This vision was reflected in the existing cooperation between SCZONE and China, as the number of Chinese companies operating within SCZONE reached more than 200 companies, including “Hutchison Ports.”, which cooperates with SCZONE in operating a container terminal in Sokhna Port within a global alliance of port operators.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE, declared.

” SCZONE has become the ideal destination for East Asian countries’ investment expansions in various sectors due to its strategic location and its ability to facilitate access to different global markets, in addition to its strategic location’s ability to reduce transportation costs, the availability of various energy sources, and trained labor at competitive prices. The targeted sectors within SCZONE are diverse, including 21 industrial and service sectors that were identified according to studies related to the needs of local and regional markets. We are looking for cooperation with the business community in Hong Kong in green energy production, its complementary and feeding industries, the automotive industry, pharmaceutical industries, and data centers. SCZONE’s industrial zones are qualified to receive various types of industries through 4 industrial zones that integrate with 6 seaports on the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, as SCZONE aims, through the integration model it adopts, to be one of the most important solutions to all crises related to global value chains.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien added.

On the other hand, the delegation members expressed their happiness in exploring more opportunities for cooperation with SCZONE, especially in maritime transport, as Hong Kong is one of the world’s leading shipping centers. The delegation also stressed their desire to cooperate and transfer expertise to SCZONE regarding arbitration and mediation services and the possibility of operating within SCZONE’s one-stop shop, in addition to cooperation in maritime arbitration and arbitration for technology specific matters, as well as the possibility of cooperation with several port operators in Hong Kong to work within SCZONE ports.ent enterprise members.
