SCZONE is Laying the cornerstone for a $15 million steel structure manufacturing project

The Suez Canal Economic Zone “SCZONE” laid the cornerstone for the Chinese construction company “China Steel Egypt”, which is specialized in steel structures manufacturing within the scope of the Chinese industrial developer TEDA-Egypt in Sokhna integrated zone with investments amounting to $15 million, as the project is located on an area of ​​27000 m2. The factory will be equipped with the latest equipment and technologies to manufacture high-quality steel structures for various construction projects in Egypt. The ceremony happened, yesterday, in the presence of Major General Walid Youssef, SCZONE’s vice chairman for southern zone affairs, and Dr. Ibrahim Abdel-Khalek, vice chairman for investment and promotional affairs.

“We appreciate the depth of the historical relations in various fields between Egypt and China, which witnessed a remarkable development through the participation of Chinese companies in the projects being implemented in the New Administrative Capital, in addition to electricity and transportation projects. Egypt was also one of the first countries to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative launched by the Chinese President in 2013. We are also proud of the efforts made by TEDA-Egypt to develop its industrial area, which confirms the depth of Chinese-Egyptian economic relations.” Major General Walid Youssef, SCZONE’s vice chairman for southern zone affairs said.

“We are always welcoming new Chinese investments in the Sokhna, and we have continuous communication and coordination with TEDA-Egypt to attract more Chinese investments. The chairman of SCZONE made a successful promotional tour at the end of last May in China to strengthen partnerships between the two sides. Today, we are witnessing the laying of the cornerstone for one of the huge projects which drive development within the Sokhna integrated zone.” Dr. Ibrahim Abdel-Khalek, vice chairman for investment and promotional affairs, declared.

“CSCEC is one of the largest companies dealing with more than one country and will operate within the Teda-Egypt with an annual production capacity of 140,000 tons per year of steel structures, along with 300 covering panels, and the project’s products will be marketed in the countries of the European Union, the Middle East, and the African market to provide high-quality service for customers from our factory in SCZONE. The project comes within the framework of the close economic and trade relations between Egypt and China. We aim to settle this industry and create an industrial complex for it within SCZONE which reflects the confidence that CSCEC enjoys in the Egyptian market and its ability to provide high-quality construction and engineering services.” Mr. Khan Gao Hua, Secretary of the Standing Committee for Science and Building Engineering of CSCEC Steel Egypt said.
