Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), participated in several meetings, organized by the French business federation “MEDEF INTERNATIONAL”, which includes 7,100 French companies from various sectors, and 85 business councils; in the presence of the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, the Head of Commercial Representation, the CEO of the General Authority for Investment, the French Ambassador to Cairo, the Egyptian Ambassador to Paris, as well as members of the Egyptian-French Business Council and the managing director of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, included an extensive meeting with 30 French companies at the French Business Owners Federation (MEDEF) headquarters to promote the investment climate in Egypt and demonstrate investment opportunities in SCZONE and specialized sessions in the hydrogen and financial sectors.
Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien met with officials of “John Cockerill”, one of the leading companies in the field of producing electrolysis equipment and devices with large hydrogen generation capabilities, H.E discussed with the company investment opportunities in the fields of renewable energy and green hydrogen, and ways of cooperation in the industries feeding and complementary to the green hydrogen industry in the SCZONE, which is making efforts to localize the green hydrogen industry and expand in its fields.
H.E. also held a meeting with “Alstom” to discuss its strategic project for the manufacture of mobile units (subway, electric train, and tram cars), which aims to establish a factory for electrical components and braids dedicated to export, as the metro project is one of the most successful development projects implemented within the framework of cooperation between Egypt and France.
SCZONE’s Chairman met with officials of “Bureau Veritas Group”, one of the most prominent leading groups in the world in the field of testing services, certification of conformity to international specifications and standards, and assisting companies to comply with international standards and regulations and social responsibility, H.E. stressed the interest of SCZONE in cooperating with the group in this field to help investors working within the SCZONE to promote their exports, especially to European countries.
It is worth noting that the French Federation of Employers “MEDEF” is the first network of businessmen in France. and 70% of the member companies of MEDEF are small and medium-sized companies. The Federation is launching several international initiatives, to promote freedom of institutions, and encourage entrepreneurship through companies benefiting from a favorable legislative and regulatory environment in the economic, financial, social, environmental, and societal fields and spreading their activities in France and abroad, and “MEDEF” had met before with the Egyptian Prime Minister in March 2022 with the participation of a delegation of French companies.
