SCZONE Chairman Discusses Investment Cooperation in Electronics, Textiles, and Automotive Sectors with South Korea’s Minister of Trade

Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), received a high-level delegation from South Korea today at the SCZONE’s HQ in the New Capital. The delegation was led by Mr. Han Koo Yeo, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Resources. The meeting aimed to present SCZONE’s competitive advantages and discuss bilateral cooperation to attract global investment in targeted sectors, specifically electronics, textiles, ready-made garments, and the automotive industry. The meeting was attended by executive leaders from the Korean Ministry, the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), and SCZONE officials.

During the meeting, the SCZONE Chairman highlighted SCZONE’s integration between ports and industrial areas, world-class infrastructure, and free trade agreements that allow full access to global markets. H.E. emphasized the goal of localizing Korean technology, citing successful partnerships with companies like “H&L” and “Samil” in Qantara West, and “Hyundai Rotem” in East Port Said. He also noted SCZONE’s intention to organize a promotional tour to South Korea soon.

On his part, the Korean Minister expressed that the Korean companies are interested in investing in SCZONE to leverage its strategic location and trade privileges.
