On the sidelines of his participation in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) on behalf of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly this morning witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on green hydrogen cooperation between the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and the Bureau of Industrial and Labor Affairs of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike. SCZONE Chairman Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien and Mr. TANAKA Shin-ichi, Director General of the Bureau of Industrial and Labor Affairs, signed the MOU.
The Prime Minister emphasized that this cooperation with Japan as a development partner is of great importance to the Egyptian state, given the top priority it accords to the new and renewable energy sector. Egypt aims to be a regional and global leader in green hydrogen production and export, in line with relevant international trends, he said.
The MOU is intended to enhance cooperation between the two sides on green hydrogen from both an environmental and economic perspective, through the exchange of relevant expertise, knowledge and information, and working to stimulate market demand and support various applications.
