EGYPTIAN diplomats met with the chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) yesterday to discuss how to attract more direct foreign invest- ments in Egypt.
The meeting is part of efforts by Egyptian diplomats abroad to promote national projects and investment opportunities in Egypt.
SCzone Chairman Yehia Zaki gave a breakdown of the zone’s objectives and recent developments in ongoing projects in its industrial zones and seaports.
Zaki gave a presentation on the zone, its infrastructure, road links east and west of the canal that have been built since 2015, and investment opportunities in the industrial zones of Sokhna and East Port Said.
Egyptian diplomatic missions abroad will be expected to open new horizons for the economic zone as a gateway to African market, thanks to sccess to glob- al markets through intemational trade agreements .
Zaki also reviewed his authority’s activities, development projects and the localization of maritime services.
The ambassadors discussed incentives for investors and the messages that the authority should send to international companies to attract investments .
The envoys also looked at proposals for promotion drives for the authority’s projects abroad, recommending frequent visits to countries that are interested in investing in Egypt and the economic zone.
Discussions also focused on mechanisms for integration between the economic zone and its counterparts elsewhere and how to sharpen the competitiveness of the zone’s ports with their counterparts on the Red and Mediterranean Seas.
