H.E. Mr. Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), commenced his first promotional tour to the United States with a series of meetings with representatives of major US companies in New York, the economic capital of the U.S. These meetings aim to build bridges of partnership and cooperation between SCZONE and US business community, and to showcase the investment opportunities available within SCZONE. These opportunities include 21 targeted industrial, logistical, and services sectors slated for localization within SCZONE’s ports and industrial zones. This initiative is especially timely, given the distinguished economic relations between Egypt and the United States, and the promising prospects an investment partnership within SCZONE offers both countries. The meetings on the first day of the tour were attended by: Captain Mohamed Ibrahim, SCZONE Chairman Executive Assistant; Mr. Nader Kamel, Investment and Promotion Manager; and Minister Plenipotentiary (Trade) Yahia Elwathik Bellah, Head of the Egyptian Commercial and Economic Office in Washington.
The Chairman conducted focused meetings with several major US companies, discussing cooperation and investment in key sectors:
The initial stop involved a meeting with Becton Dickinson (BD), a leading company in Medical Devices and Supplies Manufacturing. Discussions centered on establishing specialized factories to localize the medical device industry and utilize SCZONE’s strategic location to serve regional export markets, including Africa and Europe.

In the context of promoting SCZONE’s competitive advantages, Mr. Gamal El-Din participated in a roundtable hosted by (DLA Piper), a major legal firm. He stressed that SCZONE represents an ideal platform for American companies seeking manufacturing and export centers that connect three continents, supported by Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), which enhance strategic cooperation and support global supply chains.
The Chairman also met with (Lava), a company specializing in Packaging Solutions, QR Code Security, and Digital Documentation. The talks explored the possibility of leveraging the company’s expertise to localize these essential logistical technologies and services that support various industries within SCZONE.
Furthermore, Mr. Gamal El-Din met with the leadership of (Climatic) Co., which focuses on Solar and Wind Energy Development and Financing. The discussion centered on implementing renewable energy projects to support Egypt’s growing role as a global clean energy corridor.
Meetings also included representatives from Duffy Capital Partners, a firm specializing in Sustainability, Waste Management, Finance, and Private Equity. The focus was on investment opportunities in recycling projects and circular economy solutions within the Economic Zone. The Chairman also met with Mr. Gator Greenberg of GKG Capital, which invests in Logistics Solutions, who expressed the company’s interest in cooperating with SCZONE in this vital sector.
Finally, Mr. Gamal El-Din met with Frankenbuild Ventures, which invests in Deep Tech and Innovative Solutions, particularly in the Blue Economy. The parties discussed potential cooperation in supporting startups working in advanced industrial technology fields and promoting technology transfer across SCZONE’s projects.
It is noteworthy that this tour is part of SCZONE’s strategy to promote investment opportunities in global markets, contributing to the localization of advanced industries and the attraction of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). This effort supports the Egyptian state’s goals for sustainable development and economic integration with various countries around the world.
