SCZONE Witnesses Delivery of 24 Container Handling Units at Red Sea Container Terminal (RSCT) in Sokhna Port

The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) witnessed today the delivery of 24 advanced container handling units at the Red Sea Container Terminal (RSCT), operated by Hutchison Ports. The units were manufactured and supplied by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC), a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC).

The delivered equipment includes six Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes and 18 fully automated Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes, featuring advanced technologies for operational efficiency, safety, and hybrid energy solutions.

RSCT is Egypt’s first fully automated container terminal, with a 2.6 km berth, 1.6 million m² area, and an annual capacity of 3.5 million TEUs. The terminal can accommodate ultra-large vessels up to 400 meters in length and is expected to create over 2,000 direct and indirect jobs while attracting further international investments.
