With $50 Million Investments SCZONE Celebrating the Foundation Stone Ceremony for the “Henneway” Chinese Project in Qantara West Industrial Zone


Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), witnessed the foundation stone for the Chinese company “Henneway” project in the Qantara West Industrial Zone, which is specialized in manufacturing travel luggage on a total area of 120 thousand square meters, with total investments amounting to $50 million, providing 3,000 job opportunities. The ceremony was held in the presence of Mr. Wu Hailong, Chairman of “Henneway” Company, Mr. Zhao Liuqing, Commercial Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, The Deputy Governor of Ismailia, The member of the Egyptian Parliament for Qantara West District, and several executive leaders of SCZONE.


” The Qantara West Industrial Zone represents a clear reflection of the Egyptian will and the strategic plans of SCZONE by improving the infrastructure and providing a conducive climate for investment. The Qantara West Industrial Zone was developed to include 9 projects in its first phase, in several fields including textiles and fabrics, spinning and weaving, ready-made garments, medical devices, sportswear, and agri-business, in addition to the luggage project, 6 projects were contracted in the past period, with a total investment of $271 million, on a total area of 614 thousand square meters, and providing more than 12 thousand job opportunities, and contracts are underway for the other 3 projects.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE declared.


” The “Henneway” project adds to the record of enhancing cooperation between SCZONE and Chinese investments, which have exceeded $ 3 billion. This project is a great opportunity to enhance our position as an industrial and commercial center in the region in this field. Moreover, this project will lead to the provision of 3,000 new job opportunities, which is considered one of the basic development goals that we seek to achieve.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE added.


“I Knew about SCZONE during the SCZONE Chairman’s visit to China in October 2023, which prompted me to visit Egypt to explore the opportunities in SCONE. The project contract was signed in December 2023, as the support provided by SCZONE, along with investment incentives and international trade agreements, encouraged the company to start the project as soon as possible. Continued cooperation is essential for all concerned parties in the next phase to complete construction work. The project will be able to achieve the desired goals through the support of SCZONE.” Mr. Wu Hailong, Chairman of Henneway Company said.

It is worth noting that the Chinese company Henneway is one of the largest luggage manufacturers in the world. Among its main clients are major brands in this field, including Samsonite, Delsey, Swiss Gear, and Travelite. The project is scheduled to start construction in January 2025 and operate in December 2025.
