SCZONE receives a Chinese delegation from “Guangdong Province” to discuss ways of cooperation in sectors of common interest

Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), received a Chinese delegation from “Guangdong Province”, headed by Mr. Liu Hongbing, Deputy Governor of the Provincial People’s Government, and Mr. Zhang Chaoyang, Minister Plenipotentiary and Head of the Economic Department at the Chinese Embassy in Cairo; In the presence of several SCZONE’s officials, The meeting discussed ways of cooperation between “Guangdong Province” and SCZONE, in light of SCZONE promotional efforts in China during the past two years, to partnership with the Chinese side.

“SCZONE has several capabilities including its integrated zones and affiliated ports on the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, which allow unprecedented access to global markets in light of the free and international trade agreements that the SCZONE’s enjoys. Egypt adopts a national vision to utilize the most of SCZONE by equipping it with world-class infrastructure and showcases what SCZONE offers as a model for supporting supply chains and global trade” and the readiness of the Suez Canal Economic Zone to be a center for green fuel industries, as SCZONE provides ship bunkering services with traditional and green fuels.” Mr Waleid Gamal El-Dien declared.

“SCZONE targets the localization of certain major industrial and service sectors, especially that of common interest with Chinese investments such as:
(the automobile industry, electrolyzers, medical devices sector, manufacture of home appliances, and others).

We made a promotional tour to China recently in which we successfully signed contracts for 6 new projects with a total investment exceeding $1.067 billion, which represents a success for cooperation with the Chinese side, especially in the “TEDA-Egypt” within the Sokhna Integrated Zone, Which recently witnessed the laying of the foundation stone for the “Chemtics Egypt Chemicals” project with investments of $30 million, stressing that the SCZONE is successfully partnership with Chinese investments and seeks to attract more” SCZONE’s Chairman declared.

For his part, the Deputy Governor of the People’s Government of the Chinese Province “Guangdong” expressed his happiness with the warm reception within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, appreciating the efforts done to create an attractive environment for investment, and expressing his aspiration to cooperate with the Suez Canal Economic Zone to attract more major companies operating in the “Guangdong Province” . Especially in light of the prosperity witnessed by the bilateral relations between the two countries.
