Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), is participating in the proceedings of the Egypt-UK Investment Forum, which is being held in the British capital from September 15 to 18, to discuss aspects of economic cooperation between Egypt and the business community in the United Kingdom.
This participation comes upon the invitation received from HSBC Bank, the Egyptian British Chamber of Commerce, and the UK Export Finance Organization to participate in the Egyptian-British Investment Forum, and in response to an invitation from the British-Egyptian Business Association (BEBA) to participate in the UK Trade Mission to promote investment in Egypt with British businessmen, a group of government officials, opinion leaders and British entities.
Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien will also participate in various events as a keynote speaker during the forum. He began his participation by reviewing the available investment opportunities within SCZONE during the forum’s opening session yesterday. He will also participate as a speaker in a panel discussion on September 18 entitled “Exploring the Investment Opportunities Advantages in Industry and Infrastructure”. He began his participation with a speech during the opening session of the forum, in the presence of Mr. Sherif Kamel, Ambassador of Egypt to the United Kingdom, Mr. Hossam Heiba, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), Mr. Charlie Garnett, Director of the UK Business and Trade Department in Egypt, and several representatives of various British companies.
“SCZONE’s assets consist of 4 industrial zones and 6 seaports on the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, and the integration philosophy between them. Egypt’s vision aims to maximize the benefits of these capabilities and equip them with a world-class infrastructure. This readiness contributes to qualifying SCZONE to be a hub for green fuel industries and providing services for ships’ bunkering with fossil fuels and green fuels. These efforts created a competitive investment environment within SCZONE primarily aim to present Egypt’s economic vision in deepening international economic cooperation and attracting more investments in the targeted sectors.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE declared.
“SCZONE is targeting 21 industrial and service sectors, that were studied in line with the capabilities of SCZONE, and the needs of regional and international markets. SCZONE was able to accommodate many international companies as a ramification of providing an attractive investment environment, through financial and non-financial incentives such as its strategic location, the availability of labor and energy at competitive prices, and the one-stop service that issues all the necessary licenses for construction and operation. We also adapting a strategy of localizing the automotive industry within SCZONE depending on the shared facilities business model to guarantee acceptable profit margins in this competitive industry.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE added.
On the sidelines of the forum, Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien met with a group of companies working in the field of steel and modern building materials, in addition to companies working in the fields of water solutions and communications, to discuss the possibility of cooperation within the projects SCZONE.
