SCZONE receives a delegation headed by the Malaysian Minister of Plantation and Commodities to discuss aspects of cooperation

Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), received this morning at SCZONE’s headquarters in Sokhna, a Malaysian delegation headed by Datuk Seri Johari bin Abdul Ghani, the Malaysian Minister of Plantation and Commodities and the accompanying delegation of officials from the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities in Malaysia, and representatives of the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), Malaysian Palm Oil board (MPOB), the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil Organization (MSPO), representatives of Alami Commodities company for vegetable oil derivatives, Wilmar International company for the manufacture of oils and oleochemicals, Mac World company, which specializes in supplying food raw materials to a number of international brands, and the Malaysian Foreign Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), in addition to a number of officials from the Malaysian Embassy in Cairo, headed by Ms. Rafidah Abdel Aziz, the Chargé du affairs of the embassy of Malaysia in Cairo.

“SCZONE has several opportunities for Malaysian investments in several fields to offer, especially about manufacture, transport, and storing food commodities, as the industrial zones represent an opportunity for any industrial developer seeking to establish integrated industrial complexes that have access to all regional and global markets. The development of SCZONE’s ports provides added value to supply chains, as well as the integration between ports and industrial zones, which reduces the cost of transportation and production. We also want to extend the oil industry to represent national food security for many regional and global markets.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE declared.

“I appreciate the warm reception in SCZONE, as we have a desire to consider SCZONE as part of our strategy to expand the palm oil industry around the world, especially in North and Central Africa. There is an importance to exert more efforts to raise awareness of the importance of edible oils and support their manufacturing because of their importance to the global food security.” Mr. Johari bin Abdul Ghani, Malaysian Minister of Plantation and Commodities said.

The delegation went on a field visit to the Sokhna port and the berths in which it operates and the development works currently taking place in the port, where 5 new basins and berths with a length of 18 km are being constructed, bringing the total length of the berths in the port to 23 km, with a depth of 18 m, and the establishment of trading yards with an area of 8.6 km2, bringing the total area to 10.6 km2.
