Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), received at the SCZONE’s headquarters in Sokhna, this morning, a delegation from the Korean-Egyptian Development Association (KEDA), headed by Mr. Kang Woong Sik, Chairman of KEDA, and association’s members and officials, in addition to officials from EASTERN R&E. company which is specialized in the manufacture of railway cars and their components, tonymoly Company for distribution and production of Skin care cosmetics, NST Company specializing in the Internet of Things, Good Elevator Company specialized in The Installation & Maintenance of Elevator, A.N.Fire Solution Company specialized in managing fire and fire safety services, and HYUNDAI FENCE CO. for manufacturing fences, SAN Food Value Company, which specializes in developing food storage technology, E & Bridge Company, which specializes in the production of biodiesel from solid wastes by Pyrolysis technology, and TTS Company, which produces electric motorcycles. In addition to the Chairman of the Korean garment industry cooperative, the secretary general of the Korean Association of Small and Medium Industry Promotion, and the Chairman of the Pakistani Korean association.
Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the National Egyptian Railway Industries Company (NERIC) and Eastern R&E, which specializes in supplying railway vehicle components, and manufacturing and producing freight vehicles. The MOU aims to develop railway vehicle production projects, exchange technical information, transfer technology, and monitor production quality. It was signed by Mr. Ahmed Al-Mufti, Project Manager at NERIC, Mr. Eui Si Lee, Chairman of EASTERN R&E Company, and Mr. Kang Wong-Sik, Chairman of KEDA.
“We are glad to receive the KEDA delegation. SCZONE is keen to attract many Korean investments given the close relations between Egypt and Korea and we appreciate KEDA’s role in the rapprochement between the two countries. The cooperation between Korean companies and the National Egyptian Railway Industries Company (NERIC) in the East Port Said Industrial Zone through the partnership with Hyundai Rotem, and the cooperation with Eastern R&E, paves the way for further partnership in SCZONE’s targeted sectors, which will allow Korean investments to reach the local and African markets. SCZONE enjoys a distinguished location and skilled technical workers, in addition to various investment incentives and integration between ports and industrial zones.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, chairman of SCZONE declared.
“I extend my thanks for the warm reception within SCZONE, as visiting the industrial zone in Sokhna allows Korean companies to explore closely the existing projects. several Korean companies wishing to invest in the Middle East region want to know more about the available investment opportunities within Egypt due to the distinguished location and availability of raw materials needed for many industries. We need more mutual visits to clarify the investment opportunities for Korean investments within SCZONE” Mr. Kang Woong-sik, Chairman of KEDA said.
After the end of the meeting, the delegation went on a field visit to the Sokhna Integrated Industrial Zone, where the delegation visited the Heng Tong Egypt factory for electrical products and optical fibers, and the Medea Egypt Company for home appliances, within the scope of the industrial developer “TEDA – Egypt”. The delegation also inspected the factory of the National Steel fabrication (NSF), within the scope of the industrial developer “El Sweedy”.
