The General Authority Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) witnessed the signing of a usufruct contract for 64,000 square meters for the HiTech Apparel Co., Ltd. project, a Thai ready-made garment company. The project is the first collaboration between SCZONE and Thai Investments. The signing aims to establish a sportswear factory in the Qantara West (Abu Khalifa) industrial zone, with total investments of up to $20 million and the provision of 1,500 jobs. The planned factory will be the Thai company’s first factory in the Middle East and Africa.
*”The strategic partnership between SCZONE and the Kingdom of Thailand is the first of its kind, reflecting the success of SCZONE’s promotional efforts in the past period. SCZONE aims to establish a global clothing and textiles complex in Qantara West, Ismailia, a promising industrial zone that has succeeded in attracting investments from different countries in various fields, with the textile and clothing industry at the forefront.” SCZONE Chairman declared on the sidelines of the signing ceremony.*
*”We are proud to achieve the first joint economic cooperation between Egypt and Thailand. The selection of HiTech Apparel Co., Ltd. to invest in SCZONE is a result of Egypt’s recent development on many levels, especially in light of the incentives offered by SCZONE to investors and its distinguished strategic location as an important outlet for Asian products to European markets. The company is working to accelerate the pace of work so that the foundation stone for the factory is laid in the second half of the current year, and operations begin in the second half of 2025.”* Said HiTech CEO.*
It is worth noting that Hi-Tech, a Thai company specializing in the manufacture of clothing, fabrics, and textiles, is the main manufacturer of sportswear products for American companies (Nike and Jordan) in addition to several major international brands. The company operates 10 factories in 4 countries, including 7 in Thailand, and 3 plants each (Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos). These factories employ more than 14,000 workers around the world, produce more than 60 million pieces annually, and have annual revenues of more than $220 million.
