Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), received Mr. Peter Mollema, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Cairo, and Mrs. Lara Mueller, representative of the Dutch institution “Invest International”, to discuss prospects for cooperation between the two sides in areas of common interest, especially energy, green fuel projects, and green fuel complementary industries within the scope of industries that SCZONE aims to localize.
” SCZONE has 10 assets six seaports, with its unique location on the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea and on both sides of the Suez Canal, with about 12% of international trade traffic passing through it, and the four industrial zones that are characterized by integration with affiliated ports. SCZONE benefits from Egypt’s free and international trade agreements which allow access to European, African, and Asian markets alike. SCZONE also has great readiness for green fuel projects starting from the availability of renewable energy sources, the competitiveness of energy prices, and the SCZONE’s huge investment in infrastructure and facilities, as well as the studies required by these projects. SCZONE has major investment opportunities in the field of green fuel production, as SCZONE’s ports recently provided ships’ bunkering services with fossil fuel and green fuel as well.” Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE declared.
“We appreciate SCZONE’s important role in the movement of international trade and investment and how it serves the supply chains, especially in light of the extreme shortage which was exposed as a result of the current global events that have left an increasing demand in supply chains. There are leading Dutch companies in the ports management field, desalination plants, and renewable energy, these companies can cooperate with SCZONE and benefit from the transfer of experience and technology in these fields, adding that it is necessary to build on good bilateral relations between Egypt and the Netherlands in cooperation with the economic zone.” Mr. Peter Mollema, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Cairo
“Invest International was established two years ago. It can finance and support Dutch investors in the fields of transportation, maritime services, and port development, as well as water desalination projects which are considered one of the most important complementary industries to the green fuel industry. The corporation has a list of priority projects and at the same time has promising opportunities. It can provide investment packages ready for signing, and these have already been discussed with several countries, including Egypt, as the investment opportunities presented by SCZONE are in line with the list of priorities in the region. International Investment Corporation.” Mrs. Lara Mueller explained.
