SCZONE announces the launching of “e-tadweer and EPAP” two environmental programs providing green industrial solutions

The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) announced today the launching of the (e-tadweer) electronic platform for recycling e-waste which targets the management and recycling of solid and electronic waste to serve industrial facilities within SCZONE and the launching of the Environmental Pollution Abatement Program (EPAP) that aims to fund industrial developers and factory owners to help them shift towards reducing industrial pollution, in addition to technical support and training assistance to raise workers’ awareness.

In this context, Mr. Walied Gamal Eldien, SCZONE Chairman stated: ” SCZONE pays great attention to the transition to a green economy in implementation of one of the main pillars of its strategic plan, which is the environmental pillar. SCZONE is developing East Port Said Port and operating it as SCZONE’s first green port and is being equipped for clean trading. Within Sokhna zone, there are projects that use environmental solutions and adhere to environmental standards and requirements. The projects also follow the results of environmental impact measurement studies conducted by SCZONE.”

This came during the official visit of Dr. Yasmine Fouad, the Egyptian Minister of Environment, and her accompanying delegation, to SCZONE in Sokhna Hq, to continue joint discussions about activating the cooperation protocol signed last April between SCZONE and the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), in the presence of some representatives of the industrial developers and investors in Sokhna and East Port Said integrated zones, to educate them about the objectives of the protocol and the commitment in their projects established to international environmental standards that would reduce carbon emissions in some industries.

For her part, Dr. Yasmine Fouad declared: “I invite SCZONE investors to participate in the (Environmental Investment Conference) that will be held at the end of next July under the auspices of the Egyptian Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, with wide international participation from all concerned parties. The conference targets presenting investment opportunities in the fields of environment and climate and reviewing success stories in the fields of environmental investment, especially those achieved by SCZONE in green ports and affiliated industrial zones. It also includes the announcement of the launch of the first electronic platform for environmental and climate investment soon.”

The meeting was followed by an inspection tour of the Egyptian Ministry of Environment delegation, accompanied by SCZONE officials, to some factories in Sokhna industrial zone, namely Egypt Green Hydrogen, the first green fuel project in Sokhna integrated zone, to inspect the mechanisms of the project’s implementation of environmental safety measures, rationalizing energy consumption and reducing carbon emissions. The minister then visited (Ateco) Pharma factory, and the procedures followed to operate it using the latest technologies and in accordance with international environmental standards, to tighten pollution rates, recycle waste, and rationalize energy consumption.
