SCZONE receives a Russian delegation to continue negotiations about RIZ

The General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) received this morning at its headquarters in Sokhna a high-level Russian delegation of representatives of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Russian Finance Corporation (VEB) and RF, the investment arm of the Russian government responsible for financing and implementing the Russian industrial zone within the SCZONE as well as representatives of Russian companies wishing to invest at SCZONE. The delegation was received by Major General / Mohammed Baraya, Vice Chairman of the Northern Zone, Major General / Walid Youssef, Vice Chairman of the Southern Zone, and a number of SCZONE officials.

The visit included a meeting between SCZONE officials and members of the Russian delegation to discuss the completion of the steps for the establishment of the Russian Industrial Zone (RIZ) in Sokhna and East Port Said integrated zones. The visit comes as a prelude to receiving Russian companies and industries in the targeted sectors within SCZONE’s strategic vision. The Vice Chairman of the Southern Zone gave a detailed explanation during the meeting of the development projects taking place in SCZONE. He also screened a promotional film about SCZONE that includes the characteristics of industrial zones, ports, projects carried out by SCZONE in infrastructure and port development, as well as investments in the zone.

At the end of the meeting, Both SCZONE deputies expressed their appreciation for the joint cooperation between the two sides. This was followed by an inspection tour of the specific site of RIZ on an area of 500,000 square meters in Sokhna. The delegation inspected the industrial developer Orascom Industrial Estates to learn about the various industrial facilities within its scope. The delegation then inspected Sokhna port and the latest developments in its development to become the most important hub port on the Red Sea.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman of the Northern Zone accompanied the Russian delegation on an inspection tour in East Port Said of the project site for RIZ to be established in East Port Said integrated zone. During the tour, the most important industrial developers working within East Port Said were introduced, as well as the already existing projects, ongoing development works, and expansions taking place in the industrial zone.
