Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), received members of a high-level delegation from the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce headed by Mr. Nikolaos bakatselos, in order to discuss means of cooperation between the two sides, exchange visions on maximizing the benefits from common economic interests and reviewing the potential of SCZONE. The meeting was held in the presence of the vice chairmen and chairman’s advisors.
At the beginning of the meeting, the chairman of SCZONE welcomed the members of the delegation. He expressed his happiness with this meeting, which comes in light of SCZONE’s endeavor to achieve more international economic cooperation that aims to maximize the resources and at the same time presents a distinguished partnership through many advantages that SCZONE offers whether in terms of the distinguished location and the robust infrastructure, or the investment incentives and the targeted economic sectors.
“SCZONE is located on an area of 455 million square meters and includes 4 industrial zones and 6 seaports on the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, which serves the idea of integration between industrial zones and seaports, especially the port of East Port Said, which is one of the most important seaports overlooking the eastern Mediterranean and its proximity to European markets, which contains a multi-purpose terminal as well as a dry bulk terminal for grain. The latest partnership for cooperation in East Port Said port is with the Abu Dhabi Ports Group to establish many projects inside the port. We also signed contracts for the Cement Silos the storage of white and black cement in the sea ports of Arish and West Port Said, in addition to the development work in Sokhna port, which aims to turn it into the most important pivotal port on the red sea.”Mr. Waleid Gamal Eldien declared.
“SCZONE pays great attention to more than 21 economic sectors, on top of which is a green fuel, as SCZONE dedicated an area of 20 million square meters, in addition to providing the necessary infrastructure for establishing this type of project. SCZONE also is targeting the settlement of Complementary and feeding industries for the green fuel industry. We are preparing for its use in ships’ bunkering with it in the near future, especially since the location of SCZONE near European markets contributes to accelerating the pace of transition towards green fuel in Europe, and certainly, Greece will have a role in transferring the green fuel from SCZONE to various European markets Which supports the existence of more cooperation in this context.” Chairman of SCZONE added.
“First, I want to congratulate you on the progress that Egypt has made, especially in SCZONE. I’m happy with what we heard during the presentation, as what was presented is evidence of the amazing scale of development that Egypt is making in terms of infrastructure and development. The American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce can link SCZONE and the Greek business community, given that it enjoys a privileged location that creates tremendous opportunities, especially because it enjoys, along with the prime location, many investment incentives and infrastructure, which means that SCZONE exerted efforts to add value above the site that Egypt is gifted to become an attractive investment destination.” Mr. Nikolaos bakatselos, President of the American- Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, stated.
It is worth to be mentioned that this meeting comes within the mission of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce in Egypt to identify the available investment opportunities, aspects of cooperation, and common interests with various Egyptian entities.
