Liquid Bulk Project has completed in Sokhna port at SCZone

Cairo- Sunday 18 October 2020:“El- Ain Sokhna port at Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) has received the Norwegian ship BW LIBERTY with a length of 226 meters and a depth of 8,3 meters with a tonnage of 46 thousand tons (11 thousand tons of propane and 35 thousand tons of butane), which is the completing of the operation for the liquid bulk project in the port with a percentage 100% that is located in the third basin of Sokhna port on an area of ​​400 thousand square meters.” Media office of the Suez Canal Economic Zone announced in a press release.

Eng. Yehia Zaki, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, said that   the arrival of this vessel, which is one of the largest vessels carrying petroleum products, has arrived Sokhna port that witnessed a latest development process undertaken by the economic zone and its partners inside the port.

“The liquid bulk project in Sokhna port is one of the important projects   in the port , as this type of vessels is a real addition and a certificate for the efficiency of the port to receive such a kind of petroleum vessels, the project includes 3 pipelines to transport butane and diesel by two stove lines, 6 km long for the line, and a diesel line 35 km long.” Zaki added.

The fuel tanks project includes 2 ammonia depots, each with a capacity of 40,000 m3, with a total of 80,000 m3. And the number of 3 warehouses of strategic reserve of butane pumped into the Egyptian National Gas Network, each of them has a capacity of 50 thousand m3 with a total of 150 thousand m3, and also includes 3 warehouses of gasoline, a strategic reserve pumped into the national network, 2 warehouses with a capacity of 40 thousand m3 and a warehouse with a capacity of 20 thousand m3 with a total of 100 thousand m3.
